DONATION OF ITEMS:

As you can imagine, finding the appropriate costumes, props and set dressing for our productions is a formidable task. Many individuals keep us in mind when they are cleaning out and disposing of old clothing and items around the house. Although we don't have much room to store current and modern items, we are always on the look-out for period (50s and earlier!) clothing, furniture and household accessories. Our building at 315 Fisher Road can always use household and kitchen items, especially utensils for cooking for large groups. Big pots and spoons and serving dishes, etc. Our Scene Shop can also use donations of new lumber, hardware, power and hand tools and other specific items used for building sets.

FIRST RIGHT OF REFUSAL:

A good rule of thumb to keep in mind is to give GPT a call at (313) 886-8901 and ask the building managers if we have a current need for whatever you are considering as a donation. If we are interested, we can let you know or suggest that you pass it on to another organization. As it relates to costumes, we generally go through the donations to keep what could be useful and pass the other items on to organizations who can use the clothing, such as Goodwill, Salvation Army or several local shelters for the homeless or victims of domestic violence.

TAX LETTER:

Because we are defined as a 501(c)(3) organization by the IRS, we can provide the donor with a tax letter to document the donation. Please be sure to mention it to whom ever accepts your donation.
